The comparables, with links
Each estimate lists the actual items it's based on and links to them. Click through and judge for yourself.
Asking isn't sold
Most comparables are current asking prices, which is what sellers hope to get. Things often sell for less. Guestimator labels asking prices as asking prices and explains the difference, so one hopeful listing doesn't fool you.
A floor for silver and gold
For sterling, silver and gold, you also see the melt value: roughly the least the metal is worth, even if nobody wants it as a collectible.
Two markets, flagged
If the comparables mix two different things, say originals and reproductions, or working and for-parts, it tells you instead of blending them into one misleading average.
It asks before it guesses
When it isn't sure what something is, it asks you a question, like "Is there a mark on the bottom?", instead of making something up.

FAQ
Good questions
Is this a certified appraisal?
No. Guestimator gives AI estimates to help you decide on a price. They aren't certified appraisals and shouldn't be used for insurance, estate, tax or legal purposes. For those, hire a certified appraiser.
Where do the prices come from?
From comparable items for sale right now, mostly current eBay listings, plus web searches for other comparable sales. Every estimate shows the listings it used, with links.
Do I need an eBay account?
Not for estimates. To list an item you'll need one, and if you don't have one yet, the app links you to eBay's free sign-up.
What does Guestimator see on my eBay account?
Only what it needs to create listings you approve: permission to manage your listings and selling policies, and your eBay username. It doesn't read your messages, orders, buyers or payouts.

Is there an iPhone app?
